Rick Flanagan

 

Rick Flanagan, Mt. Vernon, was the keynote speaker for Job Shadow Day conducted, Thursday, February 2nd in conjunction with Groundhog Day at the Quitman Carroll Green Civic Center. He spoke on "Staying Free from the Spider's Web," which touched on ways to reach the goals set in life by avoiding the traps and snares while striving to reach those goals.

Flanagan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas (Cum Laude), Masters of Education from the University of North Texas and has a Principalship/ Superintendents Certificate from Texas A&M in Texarkana. His teaching and coaching career spans 27 years and he currently serves as the Superintendent of Mt. Vernon ISD. He received many honors during his illustrious career that included being named Coach of the Year 8 times, ESPN National Recognition, Nominated for National Coach of the Year by USA Today and in 2001 he was an Inductee into the “Texas High School Sports Hall of Fame.”

Rick is married and has five grown children. WCEC appreciates the service that Rick has given and continues to give to the youth of our area.
