Co-op Overview

Still inspired by its founders’ dreams of reliable, low-cost electricity for all the citizens of the Wood County area, today’s Wood County Electric Cooperative delivers power to thousands of homes and businesses throughout the communities in its nine-county service area.

Residential and Business Service

The co-op’s residential service includes the longtime residences of folks who’ve lived here for decades as well as the vacation homes that residents and visitors enjoy on the area’s lakes. As for business and industry, the co-op provides power for interests ranging from dairies and farms to oil fields and manufacturing enterprises. In total, we serve over 30,000 meters with more than 4,000 miles of lines and employ more than 90 citizens.

Member-Owned and Operated

Wood County Electric Cooperative is owned by the people who use its services, just as it was back when the co-op was formed in 1938. The co-op’s operations are governed by a seven-member board elected from and by our members. The general manager who oversees day-to-day activities is appointed by the board.

Part of the Co-op Tradition
