Responding to Rita
Quitman, TX - Just two weeks after Wood County Electric Cooperative crews returned home from
Louisiana where they helped to re-build after Hurricane Katrina ravished the Gulf Coast, they are now
responding to Rita. Two construction crews are headed to Shelbyville, Texas, located seven
miles southeast of Center, where they will be helping Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative
(DETEC) restore power for the many homes and businesses that were damaged when Hurricane
Rita made landfall. DETEC is adistribution cooperative headquartered in St. Augustine, Texas,
that serves approximately 37,000 meters in eight counties.
