WCEC Employees Out and About in the Community

Quitman, TX August 22, 2005 - Wood County Electric Cooperative is proud to provide reliable

electric service to our members in the nine counties we service throughout rural Northeast Texas.

We are also committed to supporting our members through sponsorship and participation in

numerous events that take place in various communities.

On August 20, WCEC participated in the Winnsboro EXPO. Over 73 businesses participated

in this event with over 800 people attending from all over the area. WCEC employees Carolyn Burns

and Corie Wyrick displayed the SMARTPOWER program and also introduced the availability of on-line

bill pay for WCEC members. The Winnsboro Chamber of Commerce sponsored the EXPO

giving local businesses an opportunity to highlight the products and services they offer.

WCEC also traveled to Mt. Vernon where Paul Bennett and Rusty Mask donated their time to judge

the Sheriff’s Posse “Last Chance Barbecue Cook-off.”  Johnny Dennis of Winfield was the Grand

Champion Cook. The event attracted 40 cooks and awarded $5,045 in prize money for brisket, pork

ribs and chicken categories. Cooks set up their campsites where they prepared their specialties.

This was the second year Mt. Vernon hosted the event.
