WCEC Awards $10,000 to Area High School Students

 

Quitman, Texas, June 7, 2005 - Recently Wood County Electric Cooperative awarded $10,000

to ten ambitious graduating seniors within the WCEC service area. Each student will receive a $1,000

“Power My World” scholarship towards his or her future education.

 

An independent committee of WCEC members selected the ten winning applications. The “Power My

World” scholarship is open only to students whose parents or legal guardians are WCEC members. 

The program is funded entirely by unclaimed capital credit payments returned to WCEC by the state

of Texas.

Callie Hanks, Mt. Vernon HS

Chris Traylor, Quitman HS

Kristin Huffman, Winnsboro HS

Lindsey Mitchell, Winnsboro HS

Allison Nelson, Winnsboro HS

Blake Smedley, Winnsboro HS

Preston Smedley, Winnsboro HS

Raegan Robinson, Winnsboro HS
