Wood County Electric Cooperative Outage Statistics

March 9-10, 2006

Summary

On March 9, 2006, thunderstorms and high winds swept through our service

area causing several outages.  High winds caused poles to break and tree limbs to

fall on power lines.  Also, AEP/SWEPCO had transmission problems affecting 5

of WCEC's substations.

The outages began about 2:30 a.m. and by 8:30 a.m. we decided the power provided

by AEP was not going to be restored soon.  We decided to back feed our stations to be

able to temporarily provide power to over 6,000 members who were out.  This was

a gold star for our transmission system.  Without having the ability to back feed

our substations those members would have been out of power until 3:30 p.m. that

afternoon.

All power was restored by 3:00 a.m. March 10, 2006. Website updates were made

each hour on March 9, 2006 to help inform members of the progress we were making.

We appreciate each member's patience and understanding as we worked to get the lights

back on for you.
